My favorite Wedding Venues outside of Portland Oregon, from a PNW Photographer

PNW wedding venue taken by Portland are wedding photographer.

Looking for the best wedding venues near Portland, Oregon that offer stunning backdrops, PNW charm, and unforgettable photo opportunities? As a Pacific Northwest wedding photographer, I’ve spent years exploring venues that make couples’ big days truly magical. Whether you’re dreaming of a Columbia River Gorge sunset, a Mt. Hood mountain view, or a romantic garden setting, these locations are my absolute favorites for tying the knot just outside the city.

Cape Horn Estates — Columbia River Gorge, WA

If you’ve ever seen a sunset over the Columbia River Gorge, you know why this is my number one pick. Cape Horn Estates is chef’s kiss for golden-hour ceremonies — the way the sun spills over the mountains is pure magic.

Bonus points: they have indoor options for those unpredictable PNW showers, but if you can, dine under their twinkling string lights in the summer. Saying your vows with that mountain view? Trust me… it’s unforgettable.

Crag Rat Hut — Hood River, OR

This one is pure romance. The Crag Rat Hut gives you Mt. Hood as your backdrop for your ceremony, first dance, and the after-party. It’s intimate, peaceful, and right next to an apple orchard that makes for chef’s kiss bridal portraits.

It’s the kind of venue where guests can truly slow down, soak in the views, and celebrate without distraction.

Gray Gables Estate — Milwaukie, OR

This venue blew me away the first time I shot here in 2025. Think classic romance with a splash of garden-party charm, traditional historic buildings for getting ready, a beautiful fountain, blooming hydrangeas, and a lush garden ceremony space.

The dance floor sits in front of a stunning pillared building, making every first dance photo look timeless and elegant.

Mt. Hood Weddings — Skibowl, OR

Don’t let the name fool you , you do not have to be an outdoorsy person to get married here. Imagine saying “I do” on what feels like the top of the world, Mt. Hood standing tall in the background… and then hopping on the alpine slide down to your reception.

Yes. The alpine slide. With all your guests. It’s ridiculous and amazing. Dinner and dancing happen under a glowing tent, and when the sun sets, the dance floor comes alive.

Leach Botanical Garden — Portland, OR

This venue has major PNW energy! Towering evergreens, lush ferns, and a charming historic manor house. I once shot a moody, gothic-inspired wedding here that felt straight out of Twilight, but it’s equally stunning for colorful, floral-filled celebrations.

The greenery makes every color pop, so no matter your palette, it’s going to look incredible in photos.

6. McMenamins Grand Lodge — Forest Grove, OR (Children’s Cottage)

If you want summer magic, this is the place. The Children’s Cottage glows during golden hour, and the outdoor space is a blank canvas for your personal touches.

One of my couples draped strands of fabric in the trees, and it was beyond dreamy. You still get those quirky McMenamins vibes, but with an open-air backdrop that can fit any style.
